Manager of Community Development
Job Description:
The Child Abuse Prevention Center (CAPC) is seeking a full-time Manager of Community Development to execute the Center’s planned engagement activities within the community. He/she will be responsible to ensure the continued support of our cause by coordinating all planned community development activities.
The Manager of Community Development will plan, coordinate, implement and track all fund raising activities e.g. individuals, goods and volunteers, for the Center. Programs include major giving, planned giving, annual giving/annual campaigns, direct mail, special events and projects.
This position reports directly to the Center’s Director of Community Development.
About The Position:
A hands-on position, the successful candidate will ensure that the Center’s community development team’s efforts are fully coordinated by working in unison with 80 staff and 32 board members.
Because the Center relies on community support through volunteer services, goods donated and financial contributions, the Manager of Community Development will cultivate long-term donor value and increase diversity in our donor base.
Specifically, the Manager of Community Development will:
- develop and implement annual development strategies, with measures of success and fundraising goals, including major and planned gift solicitations
- have budget accountability and meet or exceed annual revenue goals
- research and lead the Center on philanthropic trends, specifically engagement strategies and new funding sources
- maintain an effective donor management system
- represent OCCAPC with other organizations and institutions in addition to media and public at large
- provide a highly professional and visible presence in the community
- participate in key organizational meetings to include board meetings and funder meetings and special events
- be responsible for other projects as assigned
Qualifications:
The selected candidate will have an extensive background in relationship management, fundraising, communications, organization and volunteer leadership. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. A Master’s in a related field is preferred. Five years of successful fundraising experience in private or non-profit sector.
The successful candidate will also have:
- a strong business acumen
- experience in design, solicitation and implementation of development plans to include fundraising and volunteer engagement
- demonstrated leadership skills to include building and managing teams along with coaching and people development
- Board experience
- excellent verbal and written skills
- proven executive level networking and relationship-building skills, and
- be well versed in communications technology to include “social media” tools and data base management and organizational products i.e. Microsoft Office, to manage relationships and work progress
