Full Time Medi-Cal Billing Coordinator


Job Description:

The Child Abuse Prevention Center is the county's leading not-for-profit organization focused exclusively on the prevention of child abuse. Our early intervention programs have a well-documented record of strengthening and improving parent-child relationships, working to prevent child abuse before it occurs.

The Child Abuse Prevention Center is currently looking for a responsible, enthusiastic, self starter to occupy a Medi-Cal Insurance Biller/Data Entry Assistant position.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Medi-Cal billing with knowledge of IRIS, Medi-Cal insurance, claims processing/collection strategies, current procedural coding, and diagnostic coding. Candidates must have strong communication skills and be highly organized with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively. Computer experience and knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook is necessary.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serving as a Med-Cal billing specialist for Orange County Contracted Mental Health Program
  • Existing knowledge and utilization of Orange County Citrix IRIS program
  • Maintain client records in both hard file and database format
  • Provide technical reviews of documentation, run reports, and compile statistics
  • General office support duties, including ordering and inventory of supplies and maintaining schedules
  • Understand, interpret and apply complex procedures, regulations and directions in order to process or to verify the accuracy of information or documents
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive reports and keep difficult records
  • Quality Assurance experience with Medi-Cal documentation and timelines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills / Knowledge Required

  • Previous data entry experience and Medi-Cal billing experience with IRIS system for a minimum of two years
  • Experience with Medi-cal billing and processing Medi-cal paperwork for a minimum of two years
  • Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures, including filing methods, systems and the operation of office equipment
  • Two years experience in applying Quality Assurance practices to Medi-Cal documentation and timelines
  • Candidates must have strong communication skills and be highly organized with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
