Part-time Medi-Cal Insurance Biller


Job Description:

The Child Abuse Prevention Center is the county's leading not-for-profit organization focused exclusively on the prevention of child abuse. Our early intervention programs have a well-documented record of strengthening and improving parent-child relationships, working to prevent child abuse before it occurs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage monthly reports
  • Medi-Cal billing
  • Prepare and process insurance claims
  • Set up and maintain patient records
  • Statistical reporting
  • Perform other general office duties as needed
  • Additional data entry
  • Review and reconcile all Error Correction Reports received from the Department of Mental Health
  • Process and enter all EPSDT Medi-Cal services/claims through the county MIS, the state MH1980 system and the agency’s internal tracking system
  • Maintain weekly billing reports and delinquency reports on each provider/clinician.  Submit these jobs weekly to the Program Director, Program Coordinator, Orange County Group Home Division Directors or RTC Mental Health Services Director, CFO, and CEO
  • Complete chart audits and update all chart audit forms regularly
  • Perform data entry and inquiries as needed in other areas of billing operations (i.e. staffing changes, additions or corrections, new client inquiries, admissions, and deletions)

Skills / Knowledge Required

  • High school diploma
  • Strong background in Medi-Cal billing with knowledge of Medi-Cal insurance, claims processing/collection strategies, current procedural coding, and diagnostic coding. 
  • Knowledge of Medi-Cal terminology
  • Experience preparing and processing insurance claims
  • Ability to read and evaluate explanation of benefits
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Extremely detail oriented and organized
  • Able to work well with multiple timelines and deadlines
  • Must have experience with all types of healthcare insurance. 
  • Candidates must have strong communication skills and be highly organized with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
