Monitored Visitation Specialist
Job Description:
The Child Abuse Prevention Center is currently seeking part-time and full-time Monitored Visitation Specialist to provide monitored visitation for families referred by social services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide 26 weeks of monitored visitation to families referred by Children & Family Services’ Social Workers. Visitations will be between parents of children who reside in out-of-home placement.
- Respond immediately to newly assigned cases to assure agency connection.
- Conduct initial needs assessment.
- Establish rapport with parents/children and assist in facilitation of visitation.
- Structure service plan with the client and Children & Family Services Social Worker.
- Provide on-going resources and referrals for families as appropriate.
- Assist social worker with on-going surveillance of children to assure safety and protection.
- Provide weekly updates to the Children & Family Services’ Social Worker.
- Provide current, concise weekly reports to Children & Family Services.
- Maintain client files as required and complete required documentation.
- Manage cases in accordance with grant requirements.
- Comply with Mandated Reporter requirements.
Resource Linkage Responsibilities:
- Perform an assessment which is documented to identify the client’s needs including: developmental/medical/mental condition, training needs for community living, vocational/education needs, physical needs (such as food and clothing), social/emotional status, housing/physical environment, family/social support system.
- Provide clients with linkage and consultation and referral to service providers and placement activities if appropriate.
- Provide crisis assistance planning to evaluate, coordinate and arrange immediate service or treatment in order to avoid, eliminate, or reduce a crisis situation.
- Provide crisis intervention during monitored visitation if session becomes dangerous to the safety of the child.
Secondary Duties:
- Participate in the planning of various events.
- Maintain updated statistics monthly.
- Attend all required meetings.
- Promote public relations in the community.
- Assist in public education activities (speaking presentations to organizations and client outreach, etc.)
Skills / Knowledge Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field or equivalent.
- 1 year experience, two years preferred
- Bilingual both English/ Spanish and English/ Vietnamese preferred
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
