The Grant Research and Writing Intern is responsible for supporting the Grant Administrator in seeking new funding opportunities for general operational budgets, designated programs, and restricted opportunities in addition to assisting in the management of the Grant submission process.
The Grant Research and Writing Intern will conduct research on foundation and corporate giving in accordance with agency interests and history to identify new funding opportunities to pursue. The successful candidate will possess the ability to research and analyze data in conjunction with seeking out new funding opportunities. The position may also require developing and writing letters of inquiry, concept papers, and proposals in support of the Child Abuse Prevention Center’s efforts to secure support for general operations and designated programs. This position is unpaid but you may receive school credit.
Duration: This is a 6 month to year long internship due to the training required
Hours: 15-20 hours a week
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research new funding opportunities for general operational budgets, designated programs and restricted opportunities
- Assist in the development of an annual calendar of foundation submission dates
- Assist in writing and researching essential grant proposals to secure necessary funding for the Center’s essential programs
- Support the Community Development Department in the facilitation of fundraising
Position Qualifications:
- Full-Time or part-time graduate or undergraduate student
- Ability to conduct research via the internet, library and other sources
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with funders, departmental peers, volunteers, and other professionals involved in fundraising
- Strong writing and communication skills required
- Prefer individuals interested in pursuing a career in human services, public policy, public interest or not-for-profit and/or those that have an interest in working with underserved populations
