Post-Event
On June 20th eighty-five women participated in our “Not So Serious” Women’s Golf Outing hosted by Nicole Brown, wife of Los Angeles Kings Captain Dustin Brown. Held at Black Gold Golf Club in Yorba Linda, the event raised $45,000 to directly support the Child Abuse Prevention Center’s in-home parenting education and mental health programs.
The “Not So Serious” Women’s Golf Outing is the only golf event specifically designed for women in Los Angeles and Orange County. Originally developed by Jessica Erstad, wife of professional baseball player Darin Erstad, the event focuses on fun rather than par scores throughout the 9-hole course. During the past seven years, under Jessica’s guidance, this event has attracted over 1,000 participants and raised more than $400,000. As a token of our appreciation, the Prevention Center has established a scholarship fund in Jessica’s name for young teen mothers.
This year, women from Orange County and Los Angeles came together to not only celebrate Jessica’s past accomplishments but also to welcome our new chair, Nicole Brown. Nicole, along with her husband Dustin Brown, and various members of the Los Angeles Kings, helped raise funds through hockey themed on-course activities, opportunity drawings, a live auction filled with Los Angeles Kings paraphelia and Bid from the Heart. Upon completion of an afternoon of golf, the women had a cocktail reception with tray passed hors d’oeuvres before enjoying a complete buffet dinner provided by Tannins Restaurant and Wine Bar in San Juan Capistrano.
Thank you to all our wonderful sponsors and the incredible women who played at this year’s “Not So Serious” Golf Outing! We appreciate all your support. Your contributions will help us continue to provide necessary programs to at-risk families and break the generational cycle of child abuse!
