5th ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC

Key members of Orange County’s business community joined forces on Monday, August 21, for the Child Abuse Prevention Center’s 5th Annual Charity Golf Classic at the at the El Niguel Country Club in Laguna Niguel.  With the backing of honorary co-chairs, Mickey and Patty Hatcher, of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and presenting sponsor Wells Fargo, over $55,000 was raised to support the Prevention Center’s in-home prevention programs.

This is the second year that Wells Fargo has been the presenting sponsor of this annual tournament.  "We at Wells Fargo Bank appreciate the opportunity to be involved with the annual Golf Classic and support the Prevention Center's efforts to eliminate Child Abuse in our communities," commented Pat Murphy, Senior Vice President of Wells Fargo Real Estate Group in Orange County.

As honorary co-chairs, Mickey and Patty Hatcher brought their charm and enthusiasm to the day’s activities on the course.  Patty’s story of how she uses the Prevention Center’s Baby-Think-It-Over dolls in her teaching curriculum brought the Prevention Center’s mission of eliminating child abuse, teen pregnancy and domestic violence to the forefront of the evening’s program.  Coupled with event co-chairs, Ed Inal of Western Digital and Jeff Shepard of CRESA Partners, who are both deeply involved in the Prevention Center’s cause, this year set a Prevention Center record for this event’s participation and proceeds.

“This was a great day out! Concerned people made this happen: our Board, the committee, our volunteers, and generous players. And those same concerned people had a lot of fun. The proceeds from today will go a long way toward propelling our programs forward,” commented Child Abuse Prevention Center’s Chief Operating Officer, Scott Trotter.

Additional sponsors for the day included Armstrong/Robitaille/Riegle, CBL Data Recovery Systems, Commercial Capital Bank, First American Title Company, Jan Jewell, Lavey Roofing Services, Solectron and UPS.  Also in attendance at the tournament were teams from Hyperion, Washington Mutual, Siemens Building Technologies, Siemens Fire Safety, Standard Pacific Homes and the Newport Harbor Exchange Club.
