Orange, Calif. -- More than 144 golfers recently came together at the El Niguel Country Club in Laguna Niguel for friendly competition in the name of child abuse prevention, raising $35,000 for the Child Abuse Prevention Center. Proceeds from the Prevention Center’s fourth annual Golf Classic, hosted on Aug. 22, 2005, will support early intervention programs that provide intensive in-home parenting education and support for struggling Orange County families. In addition to a round of championship golf, putting and Hole-in-One contests, lunch, and on-course refreshments, tournament participants enjoyed a post-game dinner and awards ceremony honoring the day’s top golfers. The tournament also featured live and silent auctions offering items such as luxury weekend getaways, race car driving school, rounds of golf and autographed sports equipment.
“We had an incredible group of men and women who played not only because they love the game, but because they are committed to the future of our children,” said Kathy McCarrell, Executive Director of the Child Abuse Prevention Center. “Their support will allow us to reach more children and families than ever with the parenting education and resources they so desperately need.”
Prevention Center past Board president Ed Inal (Western Digital Corp.) and past Board member Herb Reynolds (Commercial Capital Bank) co-chaired this year’s Charity Golf Classic. Wells Fargo served as the event’s Presenting Sponsor, with additional sponsorship support from Beech Street Corporation, Insuring The Children, Lavey Roofing Services, Solectron, Hole/Advertising Sponsors Commercial Capital Bank, First American Title Company, Siemens, American Technologies, Inc., Horizon Technology, Bridgestone Golf, Housing Capital Company, ICS, Dana Capital Group, Bonne Bridges, Mueller O’Keefe & Nichols and Fresh Alloy.
