ORANGE , Calif. (November 4, 2005) – It was “Raining Men” at the Fourth Annual “Men With Heart” Bachelor Auction, November 4, 2005 at the Westin South Coast Plaza as 150 single women eagerly bid on dates with 17 eligible bachelors. "Thanks to the generosity of our bachelors and our sponsors: Suzuki, Sergio Rossi, Paige Premium Denim--and of course, the women who came out to support our cause--we raised $30,000 for our critically needed parenting education and support programs," said Kathy McCarrell, Executive Director.

The evening began with a silent auction where women had an opportunity to bid on some 35 fabulous items ranging from a $1,000 pair of boots, courtesy of Sergio Rossi in South Coast Plaza, beauty and spa gift certificates, courtesy of Spa Gregories and The Spa at South Coast Plaza, among others and a special live auction item: a week-long stay for two with lift tickets at a Snowbird resort in Utah, courtesy of bachelor Joshua Linker at www.altabirdrentals.com. After the silent auction, the ballroom doors opened to unveil the tuxedo-clad bachelors who served chocolates to the ladies as they entered. Master of Ceremonies and fine jeweler Robert Galzarano welcomed the ladies and shared a poignant personal story of child abuse, reminding the women of the real reason behind the auction and encouraged them to: “remember the kids and bid high!”

“ As each of the bachelors took his turn on the stage, the MC described the “dream date” package that he created for the auction at his own expense. Dates ranged from a ride with a professional racing instructor around the California Speedway to a romantic day in the wine country of Temecula. Bachelorettes pledged winning bids up to a high of $2,500. The evening’s top two bachelors went for more than $2,000 each and included Neil Lehtola, an executive with Stuart Weitzman who arranged for day of shopping at a private trunk show sale and three free pairs of Stuart Weitzman shoes for his lucky bachelorette, and Kevin Hayes, vice president of CRESA Partners, who planned a day of golf and spa treatments in Laguna Beach.

“I am humbled by everyone who gave of their time, talent or treasure through this event to improve the lives of Orange County's children and families," said Kathy. "Thanks to everyone's participation in our auction, we'll be able to help alleviate the waiting lists for many families who so desperately need our services."
