6th Annual Charity Golf Classic Presented by Wells Fargo Bank
Orange County’s top business and community leaders “Teed off” against child abuse at the Child Abuse Prevention Center’s Charity Golf Classic on Monday, August 20, at the El Niguel Country Club in Laguna Niguel. This 6th annual tournament, presented by Wells Fargo Bank, made great strides in the fight against child abuse by raising over $64,000 for the Prevention Center’s in-home child abuse prevention programs.
"We at Wells Fargo Bank appreciate the opportunity to be involved with the annual Golf Classic and support the Prevention Center's efforts to eliminate child abuse in our communities," commented Pat Murphy, Senior Vice President of Wells Fargo Real Estate Group in Orange County.
This is the third year that Wells Fargo has partnered with the Prevention Center in their effort the break the generational cycle of child abuse in Orange County. Joining them are co-chairs, Ed Inal of Western Digital and Jeff Shepard of CRESA Partners, who are both deeply involved in the Prevention Center’s mission and are determined to make this year’s event the best yet.
“This was a great day out! Concerned people made this happen: our Board, the committee, our volunteers, and generous players. They had a great time. And these same people show equal concern for the families we serve. The proceeds from today will help make a huge difference in our clients’ lives,” commented Child Abuse Prevention Center’s Executive Director, Scott Trotter.
Additional sponsors for the day included Lavey Roofing Services, UPS and CBL Data Recovery Systems. Also in attendance at the tournament were teams from Siemens, Robertson, Griege and Thoele, American Technologies, Washington Mutual and Commerce National Bank.
In addition to 18 holes of championship golf set in a “scramble start, best ball” format, participants enjoyed a cocktail reception and silent auction followed by a post-game dinner and award ceremony. The live action grand prize of the evening was a private luxury suite at Angels stadium for 18 people, courtesy of KPRS, that raised $4,250. In the silent auction, a wonderful trip to the Palm Canyon resort, courtesy of Ed and Laura Inal, raised over $750.
The Child Abuse Prevention Center is dedicated to serving at-risk children and families with programs that break the generational cycle of child abuse and family violence. The Prevention Center’s early intervention programs have well-documented records of strengthening and improving parent-child relationships and working to prevent abuse before it occurs. Since 1983, the Prevention Center has served more than 184,000 Orange County residents – including nearly 16,500 children, 10,000 parents and 6,800 families in the last year alone.
