Volunteer Opportunities
In order for children to thrive, they first must be nurtured and cared for in a healthy and loving home. Help us put children first and consider volunteering at the Child Abuse Prevention Center. The opportunities are endless, and the life you change might just be your own.
- Office Support: We are always looking for volunteers to assist in the office for a few hours or more. This is a great way for students to fulfill philanthropy requirements or for anyone to help when they have a free morning or afternoon. Opportunities may include: copying, filing, envelope stuffing, donation room inventory and pre-event support.
- “Reach for the Stars”, Young Mother Mentoring Day: Professional women are paired with young, struggling mothers in a half-day seminar to help them set career and personal goals. Minority women, single mothers or women who have overcome hardship backgrounds are especially desired as mentors. This program takes place three times a year.
- Adopt-a-Family: Businesses, clubs and religious congregations work with a caseworker at the Prevention Center to provide cribs, clothing, diapers and other much-needed material goods to impoverished families who participate in our programs.
- Santa’s Helpers: Volunteers are needed during the month of December to catalog gifts as they are brought to the Prevention Center and to deliver them to families in need.
- Donation Drive: Students, groups or businesses interested in doing a one-time project to help the Prevention Center can spearhead the collection of much needed items. Examples include: Diaper Drive, Backpack Drive or School Supplies Drive.
- Annual Event Committees: Volunteers assist in planning one or more of the Prevention Center’s major annual fundraising events. Individual event committees meet regularly to plan the event, secure auction items, solicit corporate sponsorships, sell program ad space, tickets, and more!
- Monitored Visitation: Volunteers 21+ accompany trained specialists to their monitored visits, held between parents and their noncustodial children. Volunteers observe interactions between family members and help monitor and maintain safety during visits.
