Parent Educator – Parent to Parent Program

The Child Abuse Prevention Center is seeking part-time (10 hours) Parent Educator for its Parent to Parent program.  The focus of the Parent to Parent program is to reduce negative behaviors and increase family protective factors for children through facilitation of evidence-based curriculum to parents of children exhibiting challenging behaviors.  Services are provided throughout sites in Orange County.  This position reports to the Parent Education Program Director.

Duties include but are not limited to:  1) Providing an average of seven 10-week parenting classes weekly to diverse populations in Orange County; 2) Recruiting & retaining parents and; 3) Developing and creating lasting relationships with new, community based sites in Orange County

The successful candidate has an ability to establish strong rapport with parents both individually and in a group setting, and can enthusiastically provide a high degree of encouragement to those parents.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a social service-related field
  • Two to three years of experience working directly with children
  • One to two years of experience in the delivery of social services
  • Experience in Public Speaking, facilitating and/or Sales is a plus
  • Bilingual Spanish Required
  • Consistent Morning (7:30am to 11:30am) and evening (5:00pm-9:00pm) availability Required
